Talks will continue with China to resolve Ladakh stand-off: Rajnath Singh
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh reiterated on Tuesday that India would persist in dialogue with China to peacefully resolve the military standoff in eastern Ladakh while maintaining vigilance. He also commended the Indian Army for its response to ongoing cross-border terrorism from Pakistan.
“While our troops remain steadfast on the northern borders, the ongoing dialogue for peaceful resolution will continue, as disengagement and de-escalation are the way forward,” Singh stated.
Regarding the situation along the western borders, Singh acknowledged the persistent proxy war by the “adversary.” He praised the effective collaboration between the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), police forces, and the Army in countering terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Singh addressed the Army Commanders’ Conference, held as a virtual event on March 28 and physically on April 1-2. The conference extensively discussed existing security scenarios, border situations, internal challenges, organizational restructuring, logistics, and modernization efforts.
Singh lauded the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for significant improvements in road communication along both the western and northern borders. He emphasized the Indian Army’s indispensable role in safeguarding borders, combating terrorism, and aiding civil administration during crises.
Highlighting the Army’s role in nation-building and development, Singh underscored its importance across security, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and medical aid domains.
He also praised the Army’s adoption of advanced technology and emphasized the need to consider unconventional and asymmetric warfare, cyber threats, and hybrid warfare in future strategies. Singh stressed the importance of integrating various facets of modern conflict into armed forces planning and operations.
