Indian Army inducts indigenous Akashteer system
The Army has initiated the induction of control and reporting systems as part of ‘Project Akashdeep’ to strengthen its air defense capabilities, according to sources on Thursday. The deployment of these systems commenced with the flagging off of the first batch of Control Centers from BEL Ghaziabad.
Developed by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), the project aims to significantly enhance the operational efficiency and integration of the Army’s air defense mechanisms.
“The Akashteer Project is an innovative initiative designed to streamline air defense control and reporting processes through digitalization,” a source stated.
The source further explained that with 2024 designated as the ‘Year of Tech Absorption,’ the induction of Akashteer Control Centers will address both current and future requirements of complex air defense operations.
